Brief History

Founded by Lee Nam in 1910, Yuen Chun began as a sundry provision store on Petaling Street, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown. Soy sauce, which was initially brewed at the premises using a special recipe from Lee Nam’s hometown in China, quickly became a customer favourite. This led to the creation of other sauces to complement the traditional Chinese home-cooked meal and thus the Yuen Chun brand of sauces was born.

The soaring crane on Yuen Chun’s logo is a tribute to the Lee Family’s ancestral town of Heshan (meaning Crane Hill) in Guangdong Province, China.
Yuen Chun means “Original & Special” – a brand promise which has endured for more than a century. Throughout the years to this day, Yuen Chun sauces continue to be traditionally brewed using only the finest natural ingredients.
